Welcome To Pam’s Digital Photography

Hi and thanks for stopping by. I’m using this spot on the web for my Digital Photography learning experience. Since I was about 10 years old I always had a desire for photography. I’ve always had a camera in my hands. In the 10th grade I took a photography class at the high school. It was so fun and I loved it. The teacher was Moss Burgess and he made things so fun in the class. I enjoyed every moment of that class. I was really amazed when we made our first camera out of an oatmeal box. I still have the photos I took in his class. It was very interesting developing the film and watching the picture come on the paper right before my eyes. I just never thought I was really good at anything so I never tried to better myself in the learning process of photography.
Now I’m happily married with 2 beautiful children and I’m going through a mid-life crisis. My hair is getting gray, my bones hurt, and on August the 30th I’ll be 34 years old. I was letting things get me down. Oh did I say I’m a stay at home mom? God has blessed my husband with a good job so that I can stay home with the kids. But now, in only 1 more year, the baby boy will be off to school. And I’ll be alone!
Now let me say we don’t have baby sitters. Every now and then my parents will keep the kids and give us a few hours for a break. So I’m with my kids 24/7 and as much as I’ve joked over the years about waiting for the moment to come when I can have some “me time”; well it’s just about here and I was wondering what will I do with my time besides take naps lol
Well one day I was having another bad day. You know the mid-life crisis; the gray hair and all. I decided okay I’m done. I’m not coloring my hair anymore. I’m going to get gray gracefully
this is getting harder to do when I look in the mirror and see all the gray showing. Then I started feeling like I haven’t done anything with my life besides being a Wife and Mother and I felt it’s time to do something I enjoy.
So, what did I pick up? MY CAMERA! In all the years that have passed I’ve always thought I’m not good enough. Well, truth be told, I’m not. But one day I thought “I’ll never be if I don’t start somewhere.” So less than 2 months ago I decided to start researching and trying to learn and understand photography and all the settings on my camera; instead of just point and shoot and using auto or getting a ton of bad photos trying to play with settings that I had no clue about.
So that gets me here where I am today. I’ve joined a wonderful digital photography group. I’ve been doing lots of studying. I get books from the library and I do lots of research online. I’ve done a few online classes that were just simple basic classes to teach me about my camera and settings.
Now I’m signed up for my first real class and guess when I get my first lesson? On my 34th Birthday, August 30th. Now you can’t beat that! When I signed up I had no clue when it would start. I think that was just another piece of encouragement.
So wish me luck and keep looking back. I’m not much on being a writer so you won’t have to read very often. But you will be able to look at my photos and leave me comments to help encourage me along the way. I don’t think it’s going to be an easy learning process for someone who has such a small brain lol But I think I can do it and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to become a good photographer.
As much as I will enjoy reading words of encouragement, I also want you to be honest and objective.
Thanks again for stopping by and I hope it won’t be your last visit.
Pam
Hey Pam, I think you are doing a wonderful job on the pics. They are truly amazing. There are so many small details in everything we see everyday yet we never really notice them. Your photos really bring out those details. I look at your pics and think Wow why didn’t I see this in real life, why didn’t I notice it when I was there. Your pics make me see things I have never noticed before and realize how beautiful they really are. Keep up the good work.
